Friends often commend me for my "footwork"--not of dancing unfortunately, but of being ready to go out and discover new things. So, I love travelling, meeting new people, and learning new ideas.

Everyone's photo time=)

Its warm, its sunny, its spring, and it means time for Sakura in Japan!
This last weekend, I visited Shibakoen park in Tokyo to see some early Sakura this spring.
After taking a few photos, I joined Hanami party where we drunk and ate under beautiful spink sakura flowers.

I guess I wasn't the only one hoping to get the best shots...

Haru!

Cold cold winter is over, and spring has finally arrived in Tokyo!
To enjoy sunny weather and a three day weekend, I took my camera and went to Tokyo bay Odaiba today.

Tourists and locals alike all seem to be enjoying themselves in the waterfront.

Dialogue in the Dark

Last weekend, my friend invited me to awareness-raising entertainment for Blindness called "Dialogue in the Dark."
I was at first rather skeptical how being in a completely dark room for 90 min can be entertaining, but I found the experience all very exciting.
A blind person was our guide and we were the clueless in the dark, finding our way with those white canes!!

I can not really tell what is there to do in the dark, for those of you who are interested, I do recommend visiting their exhibition.

A little thougt this evening...

"Chieko said there is no sky in Tokyo..." so begins his famous poem by Kotaro Takamura.
Coming back to Tokyo after spending two years in Taiwan, every morning I feel like saying "there is no words in Tokyo."

In a big metropolitan city like Tokyo, commuting to work is such a mechanical and impersonal affair;
"Summimasen" I say, as I manage to find the last bit of space in a full packed train....then no one says anything, not even a word.
"Sumimasen" I say as I catch an elevetor on the way, but like all the other mornings, I receive no reply.

Since when did people stop talking?
Its just a word of courtesy, but there seems to be none in Tokyo.

Summer Vacation:)

Over the past two weeks, Jason and I took a tour of Northwest Japan, Kanazawa, Noto and Sado island, and Mt. Fuji. While I have not travelled extensively in my own country, it was very nice to discover serene coast lines, green islands, and little streets full of good old Japan. And of course, it was especially beautiful to walk above clouds on the Mt. Fuji trail:)
